#357 Paul Kalkrenner - Sky and Sand

-Why?
Rave never ends in Berlin, not even in a cool autumn breeze. The whole land is celebrating the fall of Berlin Wall 25 years ago. We managed to enter to the open air party at Brandenburger Tor and danced through the evening like it was still summer. A bizarre feeling, cause those hot days are over for couple of months already, but it still feels like we just stood there and celebrated Germany's WM victory (June-July 2014). DJ Paul Kalkbrenner ended the celebrations tonight.

#346 Tim Bendzko - Es geht wieder vorbei

-Why?
I'm a little sad today. I knew, that Tim Bendzko was playing in a concert hall about 100 m away from my house here in Berlin tonight and the concert, with "fancy" prices for tickets, was sold out already for months. I went to my regular jogging to Tiergarten after work and I had to pass the concert hall to reach there. You can now just imagine, how "cool" it was to sweat around the house, where, I know, that he is standing on a stage and singing my favorite songs at this very moment. (And on the next moment, I pass the homeless people on street, grilling potatoes on one-time grill & freezing in sleeping bag, which makes me think, that we are all the damn same human beings, how did it come to this gap, that one of us is so glorified and the other next to, is literally just trying to stay alive at all...). Yeah...what was I actually about to say...? I missed the concert. Es is weider vorbei gegangen...

Exceptional post: Intelligence related to the type of music you listen to

I found this study circling around in social media. A bit unsophisticated and robust survey, but with interesting results. To pick up the artists, just Facebook preferences (liked in FB) were used and to compare the intelligence level, SAT results were considered (SAT test is standardized test widely used for college admissions in US).

#337 Beatsteaks - Everything Went Black

-Why?
Early morning today, when I was on my way to school, I stopped with couple of other people at the traffic lights. Next to me stood a man with a bunch of letters in his hand. He held them so, that I was able to read the addressee on the envelope. There stood: Sony Music Entertainment. At the moment, when I had a little "Oh, cool!" thought in my mind, the traffic lights turned green and we were allowed to cross the street. The man was faster than me and got some steps ahead, so I could read a logo on the back of his sweater: Beatsteaks. "Gentleman of the year," I thought.
Since I've shared that song here already, welcome "Everything went black" this time. :)

#336 Henning Wehland - Crazy About You

-Why?
Today's choice is easy: I share something from Henning Wehland just because I met him randomly at one beergarden here in Berlin. This lovely and warm person seen in TV just walked towards me, hehe :) If he wasn't leaving by bike and beer in his hand by the time I had just arrived, I would have definitely asked a photo with him. This was such a strange moment for me - I was so happy to finally see and recognize some German celebrity myself... I mean, my friends, who have been living in Germany longer than me, would probably recognize more people (that I do not know) and my friends back in Estonia know nothing about famous people in Germany. I really wanted to share my merriness and joy with somebody, but with whom? Nah...
Very homemade piece of recording, but the better it passes on my emotion. And I didn't know he is left-handed :)

#335 Kadebostany - Castle in the Snow

-Why?
I heard this song from TV tonight, it was playing as a background music from some... commercial? show? Oh, I really don't know anymore what it actually was. The verse (or the beginning half) is very different from the chorus, that I just fell in love with and can't stop crooning now. So beautiful (and simple)! I can hear the birds, I can see them fly...

-Why?

#330 Mine - Raus raus raus

-Why?
I was desperately seeking for some new music, that would touch or mean something to me. Something, that makes my ears "shimmer" and my mouth mumble: "Oh!". To be honest, I didn't meet "the one" tonight, but this short (2:39!) and concrete piece of music, telling mostly la-la-la, alleviates the emptiness.

#317 The Boxer Rebellion - Diamonds

-Why?
During the dinner time tonight, I couldn't focus on the music coming from radio at all. Only one song attracted my attention, but when I was able to catch my phone and open FluxFm's playlist online, the song was already finished. So I checked time (20.05) to search for the song later from their website. Now, the music of The Boxer Rebellion is filling the stillness in my flat. Good for studying.

#316 LaBrassBanda - Bauersbua - Kiah Royal

-Why?
I've mentioned before, that lyrics matter for me, since I can't stand on bullshit on nice tune. This song must be an exception, since I half understand, that the language is close to German (that I personally have learned and can speak), but on the other hand I can't distinguish one word from another. Halp :-/

#315 Rigmor Gustafsson - Still

-Why?
A friend of mine, who visited me in Berlin for 3 days, found a jazz event she asked me to come along with. I didn't mind. Rigmor Gustafsson (vocals) with Elisa Einarsdotter (piano) and Olle stone Holtz (bass) performed some solid jazz for full hall. Beautiful songs, that didn't bore me (like jazz might sometimes do in my case, unfortunately). Audience was high :)

-Why?
I went to listen to jazz with a visitor from Estonia tonight. After the concert we stopped by the exposition-table, where all kind of Northern-European countries music was represented - from the Icelandic section, a friend of mine found a familiar CD for her (but not for me) - GusGus's album Mexico. She played it to me later at home and I kind of liked this song :)

Phil Collins + The Postal Service = heaven. #281 Patrick Doyle - Fate and Destiny

-Why?
I was driving away from my hometown to Tallinn with my ex-classmate today. We were just bla-bla-bla-ing most of the time and didn't listen to any music, but as he wanted to stop at a grocery's just before entering a city, I stayed in a car and turned on music. I was pretty surprised when I heard *this* kind of music coming out of the speakers. I would have never expected he listens to something like this. And there I sat alone - rain had just stopped, sun rising in the offing and "Fate and Destiny" playing out loud. What a beautiful little moment of life to enjoy. When he returned and we drove on, I mentioned that this gorgeous music sounds like a fairy Tale. " It *is* from a movie," he specified. At this moment, we turned into an avenue, lined with oaks. God, that music passed into this situation so bad, like there was a miracle going to come after an every crossroad. No more comments needed. Just listen. I am glad to add some other tags than "indie" or "electronic" to my post after a long while.

#272 Tim Christensen - Right Next To The Right One

-Why?
When the TV series Nikolaj and Julie was playing just as a background tonight, then suddenly a song during the final credits made me to raise my head...
At least they remained faithful for Danish musicians when choosing sounds for production :)

Exceptional post: Test yourself in a music quiz! :)

Hey! A friend of mine just shared an amusing quiz link with me and I believe it's worth spreading :-)

An interesting test asks you to guess well-known songs from different eras only after hearing first second of each one. It's fun and serious at the same time; you can choose between 70's, 80's, 90's and recent hits.

My reasons to believe I'm 90's kind, received confirmation - this is the decade, I personally earned most points in :)
Good luck!

#245 Die Toten Hosen - Tage wie diese

-Why?
I have heard this song in many public events lately (especially related to football public viewings). All the Germans were singing along; I wanted to join, but couldn't mumble a word. And how do you find a song from almighty Internet, if you can only croon a short melody of refrain (and no lyrics)?
I happened to see a night movie about political history of Germany tonight by Bundestag. During the Berlin Wall collapse part, they played t h i s(!) song again. By leaps and bounds, I grabbed my smartphone out of pocket and managed to record a short clip. Being so fulfilled after doing this - now i can f***ing find you, song!, cause you are recorded with lyrics and melody! :D Later, replaying the video in my phone again, I heard almost nothing, but wind that has been recorded...oh prank. I established to understand only "Kein Ende in Sicht" and won the searches at long last!

-Why?
This would be sooo enjoyable song, if there wasn't such a weird ...musical roar (I just invented new term now!) for 3 times during the tune. Feels like the author went to toilet in between, then returned to writing/editing the piece and forgot what was done before. :P

-Why?
A good friend of mine is trying to convince me to go to the concert of First Aid Kit (here in Berlin, in October). -Why?
Almost nobody left, after the football match between Germany and USA, from Brandenburger Tor in Berlin tonight. Folks literally needed to celebrate and how else is it better than along good music (mainly pop hits, played from the stage) and people in the same mood with you. After couple of dance songs, there was a first run of Beatsteaks "Gentleman of the year" new music video shown on the big screen. Check it out here! (At the posting moment right now, it's not available in Youtube or directly in Ampya, yet.)
